Kick Start program boosts training opportunities
Kick Start is doubling its intake of trainees, giving more young people the chance to build a career.
Program Manager Reyna Flynn said Kick Start will increase its intake, giving up to 20 young people at a time on-the-job training in the trailers. Trainees spend time working in the food trailers, while under the supervision of a manager.
“There are now going to be four trainees per trailer which will give trainees a better learning experience,’’ Reyna said. As part of the program the trainees complete a Certificate III in Hospitality through Kick Start’s training partner, TAFE.
Kick Start has trailers on four sites across Sydney, including, Parramatta, Macquarie Park, Wetherill Park and Prestons with a fifth site soon to open in Glendenning. Industry support includes PAYCE, Charter Hall and Frasers Property.
Just under ninety per cent of graduates go on to get a job, while others undertake further training.
PAYCE Foundation Director James Boyd said he was pleased more young people would get a start in the training program.
“We are committed to helping young people start the journey to a fulfilling and rewarding career,” Mr Boyd said.
“Thanks to the wonderful work of the Kick Start team and our corporate partners, Kick Start is growing.’’
Thirty-three young people have already successfully participated in the Kick Start program.
