Addiction

Substance abuse is linked to family breakdown, domestic violence, and family poverty, and is estimated to cost the Australian economy $55.2 billion a year.

Addiction has a significant impact on the social and economic fabric of Australian society.

The PAYCE Foundation has a long-term commitment to support men with addiction. An area of particular interest is residential rehabilitation, which gives men an opportunity to beat their addiction, rebuild their lives through the acquisition of living and working skills and reconnect with family and society.

The PAYCE Foundation jointly funded, with the NSW Government, a $10.6 million state-of-the-art drug rehabilitation residential treatment centre, near Coffs Harbour. It is delivering excellent results for men entering the program.

The efficacy of investment into drug and alcohol programs is supported by the quantifiable economic impact: ‘for every $1 invested in treatment, society gains $7’.
